American Idiot

A judge in California has awarded the MPAA $110M in a ruling against www.torrentspy.com.

To put that into perspective, the US gov't has aided Burma with only $3M.

To put that into perspective, that is about 24 minutes worth of war in Iraq.

The MPAA was awarded $30,000 per infringement. Which means that the US thinks the people of Burma are worth $30 per person?

Pilate - Into Your Hideout

So apparently, I was frowned upon for posting "the Apple Air song" and not being original enough. Well, that commercial hadn't made it's way up to Canada. There must be a big hole in the tubes heading north. So to redeem myself, here's a nice old tune that reminds me of moving to BC, in celebration of leaving BC (temporarily).

Atmosphere - Shoulda Known

The illest beat out of Minneapolis. (Granted I've never been there, nor do I know any other artist of these roots.)

RocketBoom of the day

of... uh... 3 days ago, that is. mmm... Yerba Mate.

Scout Niblett

It's been a while since I posted and nobody noticed. I'm almost insulted enough to delete all my posts and quit, but I need to bask in your intermittent attention far too badly for that. In Seattle, we are neglected by the sun for three hundred days a year, but we still worship its fashionably late June arrival.

San Francisco is the land of milk and honey (and terrible coffee, generally, but that's another story). While I was down there I snagged a ticket for the Scout Niblett show at 12 Galaxies. She's this little woman from Nottingham in England who has been living in the USA for the last couple of years. Many of her songs feature only her vocals and a drum or an electric guitar that dispenses chords that hold on to your heart with the fierce grip of a climber on a crumbling cliff face.

She brought down the house in my chest cavity when she covered TLC's "Scrubs", but this is all I could find on the Internet. Scout Niblett's "Kiss":

Junior Boys - Double Shadow

This is off their "This Is Goodbye" album from like 2 years ago before we realized how fucking awesome they sound. David and those in southern Ontario should go see them in Hamilton on the 18th before they fuck off to Europe for a while.

Here's their myspace: Junior Boys
